Thirst Seattle, the 33rd Annual North American Gay Volleyball Association Championships is seeking qualified USA Volleyball Certified Officials for the bracket play portion of this National Championship tournament. Tournament Details
The NAGVA Championships tournament begins on Friday, May 22 with the 1st day of Pool Play for all 138 participating teams in AM and PM waves. Pool Play continues on Saturday morning and afternoon with a 2nd complete day of Pool Play. Once the 2nd day of Pool Play concludes on Saturday afternoon, all 4 divisions are seeded in to Double Elimination Tournament Brackets.

Pool Play Officiating Details (Limited Need for Pool Play Officiating)
Each competing team must have 2 NAGVA Certified Scorekeepers and 1 NAGVA Certified Referee at a minimum. Teams that do not meet these requirements must pay to have their Reffing assignments covered by a Certified Official. Teams will be charged $30 for an R1 and or Scorekeeper. We will need a limited amount of officials to cover Pool Play on both Friday and Saturday. When you complete the signup process, please indicate all dates / times that you are available. The organizing committee will follow up with needs for Friday and Saturday Pool Play.

Friday 8am - 7pm & Saturday 8am - 5pm

Bracket Play Officiating Details (Bulk of Officiating Need)
Most officials' tournament participation begins for Bracket Play, starting at approximately 6:00pm on Saturday evening. 4 rounds of Bracket Play will be completed on Saturday evening, concluding at approximately 10:00pm. Sunday morning at 8:00am Bracket Play continues until a Champion has been identified for each division, concluding at approximately 6:00pm.

Bracket Play: Saturday 5pm - 10pm & Sunday 8am - 6pm

Match Fees
Winner's Bracket matches are the best of 3 games to 25, 3rd to 15,  paid at $30 / match.
Loser's Bracket matches are the best of 3 games to 15, paid at $20/ match.
Scorekeepers (if needed), will be charged $30 / match for winners and $20 / match for loser's. 

For those non-Puget Sound Region officials traveling to Seattle, we have shared accommodations at the Host Hotel for Saturday night. For non-PNW officials traveling to Seattle by plane, we have a limited # of shared accommodations for additional nights.

Officials will receive a complimentary tournament T-Shirt and food vouchers for officiating days. There is a Sounders FC game scheduled for Saturday night, it would be best if you can travel from in Seattle to the Century Link Field Events Center via the Link Light Rail. It will let you out right in front of the competition venue, and there is a light rail station 1 block from the Host Hotel.

Official's Travel Plans

Travel costs are the responsibility of the official. We do have a limited amount of housing available at the Host Hotel, The Seattle Westin. If you are traveling to Seattle from outside the Pacific Northwest, we would encourage you to fly in on Saturday, and return home on Sunday evening. The Bulk of the Officiating Need is Saturday from 5pm to 10pm and all day on Sunday from 8am - 6pm. We will have a very limited need for officials on Friday and Saturday before 5pm. We will staff 26 courts with R1s during Bracket Play on Saturday evening and Sunday all day.
